tv Friday, March 23, 2012 at 1:00AM I just got home from seeing the Dirty Three at the Tivoli here in Brisbane. These cats are celebrating twenty years doing their thing and are like nothing I have ever seen before. Ellis was characteristically frantic (and hilarious) on stage, and I swear I could watch Jim White play drums for days. Among a number of personal highlights for me tonight was an amazing rendering of 'The Restless Waves' from their 1998 record Ocean Songs. Listen to the original below...
music Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 10:43PM The new trailer for the forthcoming film Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter was released a few days ago and it looks fun. Slated for an August 9th release, the movie is directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Russian famous for the vampire films Night Watch and Day Watch) and has Tim Burton among its producer credits. Firefly alumni Alan Tudyk is among the cast with Benjamin Walker playing the title role. Check it out...

Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 1:13PM My Vincent Price obsession continues. Recently watched this gem - the sixth in a series of Edgar Allen Poe film adaptations Roger Corman made in the 1960s. Interestingly though, 'The Haunted Palace' is actually based on H.P. Lovecraft's novella 'The Case of Charles Dexter Ward' published in 1941 in the May and July issues of Weird Tales. Corman wanted a break from the Poe material, but American International Pictures insisted it be branded as another in the Poe series. They took the name of the film from an Edgar Allen Poe poem published in 1839. Vincent Price is outstanding, as always!

His intricate beats and soundscapes have fascinated me for years. But nothing could have prepared me for the announcement of this boxset. The set contains 6 x 10" vinyl, 7 x CDs, 2 x DVDs and several posters. But get this - most of the material contained within is unreleased! And the icing on the cake? One of the DVDs contains a full-length concert from the fabled 'Isam:Live' tour.

Hope you are all well and enjoying this somewhat festive of seasons. First up, thank you to everyone who has supported the inaugral volume of Dexian Racking and the project in general. It does not go unnoticed! I apologize sincerely for the lengthy wait for this next instalment. But the mix and brief are now available for contributors to get to work on a new batch of sinister stories and art.
Anyone subscribed to the contributors email list would've received the mix for Volume 2 late lastnight. If not, drop me an email at dexianracking@gmail.com and I will forward it to you. The deadline for submissions for Volume 2 is midnight Friday 20th January 2012.

Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 2:35PM The site is now live and many are still digesting the sinister contents of Volume 1: The Swamp. There has already been a massive display of support for the project. To celebrate our launch we are joining forces with local record label Ender to throw a party. The night also marks the 4th anniversary of Dank Morass. Brad Swob will be performing the mix from the first volume of Dexian Racking alongside some incredibly talented local producers and DJs.
This will be a great opportunity for contributors from the site to meet up, have a few drinks and enjoy some quality music.
